We love a challenging site, like this Hastings property's steeply sloped front yard that was overtaken by invasive species. The clients understood and championed the benefits of ecological landscaping – they wanted a landscape that would improve the local environment and create habitat. It also had to be manageable from a landscape maintenance perspective. After significant site preparation and development, GJL designed and installed a hillside native pollinator garden that accentuated the existing features, mature birch trees and stunning boulders. In the words of the client: "Bees, butterflies and other pollinators visit in abundance... The garden is extremely beautiful and it's design fits perfectly with the style and situation of my house."
